Issues and Actions
About Issues

The issues that One LA - IAF organizes around emerge out of conversations within member institutions and vary based on the communities in which the organizing takes place. Every institution that joins One LA - IAF, therefore, shapes the agenda and direction of the organization.

Just a few of the issues we've taken on:

  • Renovating an out-of-date lunchroom in the most overcrowded school in the state, Miles Elementary, to enable all students to eat lunch. For more on the work at Miles and other examples of actions around education issues, click here.

  • Lighting streets in high-crime areas throughout the city of Pomona. For more on the work in Pomona and other examples of actions around safety issues, click here.

  • Ensuring that clinics in low-income neighborhoods stayed open during budget crunches in Los Angeles County. For more stories of actions around healthcare issues, click here.

  • Securing commitments from two national banks to write down mortgage loan principals in an innovative foreclosure prevention strategy. For more on the work around foreclosures, click here.

  • Ending predatory checkpoints in Maywood that targeted immigrant drivers. For more on Maywood and other examples of issues related to immigration, click here.
